February Wrap-Up

Some books are so familiar that reading them is like being home again.” - Louisa May Alcott

In Reading...

February being the month of love, I read a few romances that included a corpse at a wedding, being soulmates with a serial killer and a broken air conditioner setting the mood. I also, of course, travelled back to Daevabad into a loveless marriage and lastly, I was trapped on an island with ten strangers and watched as each one was killed until there were none.

The books of February, with links to my thoughts on them:

The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty

Dial A For Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry

The One by John Marrs

Favourite read was The Kingdom of Copper. God, I love this world. It's so magical but Chakraborty really makes you feel like it's real. From its politics to its history, to being out in the desert and inside the palace, everywhere is tinged with something magical that's grounded somehow. It's an epic ride but one that rushes past you leaving you just wanting more.

In Writing...

I am so close to the very messy finish line. Just a few more chapters to write and a few big scenes to rewrite and then the word vomit that is my novel will have its first draft completed.

In Life...

Going out more with Oscar - that boy has so much energy and I love seeing how everything amazes him. He laughs at the silliest things and will concentrate so hard on the most mundane things imaginable. He is definitely trying to talk, babbling away at all hours to all things.
