July Wrap-Up

"Run at the thing that frightens you." The Last Murder at the End of the World

In Reading...

This month I... came out of retirement, avoided the deadly fog, tried to overturn a will, got engaged to the Winter King, created a new species, lied under oath, and was arrested by the Spanish Inquisition.

The books of July with links to my thoughts on them:

Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Taken at the Flood by Agatha Christie

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Witness for the Prosecution by Agatha Christie

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo

Favourite read was The Last Murder at the End of the World because Stuart Turton is surely one of the most inventive mystery writers of our age. I was also on the edge of my seat for Carrie Soto is Back.

In Writing...

I'm at 30K and very near to the halfway mark! I can already see that there are some scenes that are a bit too much at the first draft stage, but there are also some scenes I really love. Having such a detailed outline has massively helped; the tough scenes aren't exactly writing themselves but they are proving easier to push through.

In Life...

This month (as most months) has been heavily Oscar focused. We started potty training (hurray for stickers) and had a few important appointments for him - some box ticking ones, others more useful to his speech and language. Lucas continues to be adorable and even Oscar is won over - the two brothers have had some super cute interactions. Plus good weather, good work news for Guz, and our technical wedding anniversary.
