Peril at End House Review

In an old house, there is sometimes an atmosphere of evil.

Peril at End House

by Agatha Christie

Genre: Murder Mystery

About: Strange accidents keep happening around Nick Buckley, a young woman who lives alone at the run down manor, End House. When she encounters Poirot, he doesn't take the accidents lightly and begins to suspect someone is out to kill Nick. The only question is: why?

Thoughts

The motive of this one is hard to guess and the reveal shows how many complicated parts were at play as, of course, nobody is quite telling the whole truth. I really enjoyed the solution to this one and the theatrics Poirot throws into it adds very much to the atmosphere.

I will say there are quite a few characters that don't get enough page time and it is mostly Poirot and Hasting discussing their theories. But the clues are fun and I liked how all the questions get answered by the end in such a way that the solution seems so obvious, when it was certainly anything but.

Verdict

This one would really suit being on a stage. The cast of characters are interesting and the solution a credit to Poirot's method.
